A lot of things aren't going my way today.

  • First, I didn't get to have my installer back, forgivable though because the culprit is my friend, it was my fault in the first place.
  • Second, I arrived at a store a few minutes before the other store I was supposed to visit closes and got served already past the closing time on the first.
  • It rained, with its wind props then stopped in less than an hour, as if its sole purpose was to get me soaking wet.
  • The live stream of MAMA sucked. Big Time.
  • My template also sucks, that's why I'm utilizing some other template.
  • I didn't get to start my project for because I couldn't buy bond papers due to the first reason.
  • My KPOP folder got deleted. Without backup.

Really, I'm starting to consider today as a bad day.

Temptation and Submission

After starting the so-called "geeky life", my life has been subject to a lot of temptations that could ward me off of the fountain of knowledge. Let me remind myself that I have only pulled this off for a week (^^') and already so many hardships.

Following my schedule was pretty hard than what I had imagined. Substituting books for my nightly rituals of Kpop and mangas was agonizingly hard difficult(Oops! almost repeated "hard"!). Seeing GD's face on the monitor's enough to send me to a serious case of amnesia about all the things I promised before the term started, but not seeing him is also going to cause me withdrawal syndrome. 2ne1's got a new commercial! Oh, What should a fangirl do? And I can't really ban myself from the internet because of researches and stuff.
Tell me, how am I suppose to ignore that smile?

Okey, back to the objecive of my weekly post. (I guess it's better for me to just enumerate these instead of doing it in paragraph.)

--> Literature.
The types of literature were tackled last Monday. I got a perfect score for the first part on our test on the next meeting, I hope I didn't suck on the other. The elements of Poetry was our last topic for the week.

The bad thing about these "Minor English" courses is that you keep repeating the same matters over and over again, since elementary days up 'till College migration. I honestly would have appreciated this hour more if it were about the Philippine Constitution. Or maybe I'm just saying this because I suck at writing?

-->
Taxation/Basic Economics/Agrarian Reform (Too long... Whatever!)
Right now, we're still on the "Basic Economics" part so we're kinda backtracking our 4th year high school subject. Money production and the Systems of Economics were this week's highlights. That reminds me, a test will be held next week. I better prepare.

--> Data Com
I will admit my mistake. I wasn't paying so much attention to our instructor so I vaguely have any idea what he was talking about, but it seems like we already covered a chapter or two of Forouzan's book. It was talking about the 7 ISO layers, focusing more on the physical part. Oh, and I have an ebook, it's a horrible copy, but if you're interested, tell me. I'm willing to share.

Next week will also be my first time connecting stuff. Our instructor promised to teach us to do some LAN thingie. I already got the materials ready! I'm so excited!

--> Programming Language
Also one of the less attention-granted subjects. Well it's not really possible for me to keep up when each slide was only shown for a second! I'm not a fan hearing someone reading from the screen either! So,yeah , we're already having a test for chapters 1 and 2 and hell how I'm going to manage. I sense some major cramming is going to happen.

--> Object-oriented yada yada...(some call it UML, Maggie)
UnFortunately, our instructor's on a leave this week and no one came for class so.. Hurray! more time to fool around! Someone came for laboratory and gave us a calculator activity though. The workstation was mocking me to destroy it after it deleted my work. Good thing they were still all-type-no-thinking-involved files. I could have murdered the pc and the TSG (who was pretty rude).

--> Simulation (with my favorite teacher! *pweeh!*)
Nothing exciting, just finished the slides about discrete event simulation and had a test after. The catch? The test was an essay test. I wasn't expecting him bring that out. But it still doesn't change the fact that he is MY FAVORITE TEACHER (I get nausea everytime I spit those words out, really).

--> PhilNITS review
I discovered one very crucial truth, the truth that might hinder me from seeing GD for a couple of months and nurturing my fangirl's love. We will be covering 3 to 4 books this sem! What?! I need to bury myself more in this geeky existence deeper? Heck! It's hard enough just to touch it, fully submerging would be like formating my brain and reorienting it with what's what. Try doing that in a span of one week, let's see if you don't kick yourself.

But I have a goal so... let me kick mysself. T_T

Well, that's it for the whole week. I gotta try harder and not give in to temptation. I still have a lot of things to cover so gotta get going... but not before checking out allkpop!

Establishing my library

>> Monday, November 16, 2009

Yes, I'm establishing my own library right now. It's time of the sem when I have to dig into the internet just to be able to get free ebooks. I swear, I'm at my limit. Finding good ones are pretty hard right now. Some aren't downloadable, and how I hate these html made ebooks. Ugh... Bumpy ride it is... T_T

Second Sem Blast Off!

>> Saturday, November 14, 2009

Last term's results weren't as satisfying as I'd want them to be. Because of this, I came up the idea of having a weekly report about my lessons so as to make sure I get to give my lessons attention and also so I could keep my blog updated, even if it's just weekly. No, I'm not planning to give an in-depth discussion of the this and that. Just a little bit (or maybe a tiny-tiny bit) of everything, similar to last summer's posts. So as planned here is my entire week spent within the four corners of the classroom.

Sure am glad my schedule for this sem's saturated at the later half of the day! I guess this means no more baggy eyes for me! Waking up late just feels like heaven. I haven't been sucking up to mangas lately but I still sleep at the wee hours of the morning scanning books and sometimes, just for the heck of watching TV (which, by the way, is now broken).

World Literature is my first subject during MWF days. It seems our instructor isn't someone old (calls for a hallelujah!) and is quite energetic to boot. Won't be the ol' boring lit I expected. We were given an introduction of Literature as a start-off on our second meeting (I know. start-off? second? yep, doesn't match).

Next is the course people usually call "Taxation" but, in truth, is a trio of Basic economics and Land Reform. Personally, I like this subject because of its practical applications in real-life. I would have loved to take up Constitution too, unfortunately for us, our curriculum does not include it. Anyway, we had a review of the history of Oikonomos, the Greeks and the not-so-Greeks. Introductions again.

Object-oriented software development came up. First was the laboratory on Wednesday, then the lecture on TTH. We were surprised to find out that our lecture and laboratory instructors are going to be different. In my 3 years as a student here, this the first time my lecture and labortory were handled separately. It's a good thing both of them relinquish an approachable aura, I'm hope they don't turn out to be tyrants in class.

FreeElec1 is probably one of the most challenging subject this sem. It's a review for PhilNITS. I hope I work very hard so by the end of the sem, I'll be sharpened enough for the test itself. We had the Number System review done this week so next weeks going to be another fast-paced discussion.

My ->FAVORITE TEACHER<- came back to take control of our Computer Simulation. Two hours with him around is going to be a bumpy ride. Definitions of the basics were presented to us in a not-so-innovative yellow font on green marble slide presentation. I wonder if there is an attention span lengthener?.

Even if it's only the start of the semester, but I've done lots of things already. I was able to take up notes on Computer Simulation from an ebook I downloaded online, also got some from the PhilNITS review. I also downloaded a sample PhilNITS SW exams. Hell, that was hella' hard. I got only 3 clean, correct answers out of the 22 I've read so far. I'm currently listing stuff I should review or focus. Gotta go for the gold!

That's it for this week. Next will be another entry. Buh-boh!

Roadside Cinderella

>> Tuesday, October 06, 2009

This isn't really a new thing for me, being clumsy and all. I wanted to share my little blooper before reaching home a while ago.

Ligemm and I where walking towards the gate of our school at 9PM. We were walking about a few insignificant things, a common habit of girls before finally saying their goodbyes to one another. When we were already in outside the school premises, I showed Ligemm a kick I found in a dance, unfortunately, my right shoe flew towards the middle of the road. Thank goodness my "Princess Charming ", Ligemm, ran (although while LOLing) ,picked my shoe and returned it to me. We had to laugh so hard, with my Lady-in-shining constantly saying "Erase! erase! gamay ra ang nakakita!!! ". I had to laugh more.

Good thing very few people saw the incident, around 5 or so people, and lesser vehicles were using the road. I can't really imagine buying new shoes just a week before semestral break, and with the money-deprived state I'm currently in.

I finally got to experience being a damsel-in-distress ala cinderella style! XD

2ne1 Addiction

>> Monday, September 14, 2009

This post is Dedicated to Elodez and Tlyn.

I haven't been to loud about these girls but I do admit that I have been encouraging friends to listening to their songs. And guess what? I feel like these friends are more fans of 2ne1 than me right now.

Like a certain someone for example. Let us call her by the alias Elodez. When the school year started I was the one urging her to try listen to Fire and Lollipop. The next thing I knew, she already downloaded the mini album over the Internet. Right now she's even the one who updates me of their performances, their upcoming solos, Dara's Cf, and...basically everything one can update about them. The tables are now turned. She urges me to watch new perfs now. While I, well, just wait for the loyal fan's updates. Mind you, she even became GD's fan.

Then there's this someone called Tlyn. She's saying she became an official fan after watching the group's solo performances on Chocolate. Oh yes, she watched it before I did and was pushing me into checking on it too. She will probably be like Elodez in the long run. I'd become a charity case of their updates.

Anyway, I'm pretty happy things turned out this way. At least I won't be alone listening to gibberish lyrics(XD).

Humanities Does Classical Music

>> Sunday, September 13, 2009

We had this assignment for our Humanities class due tomorrow. We had to hear a work for each of the following musicians: Bach, Beethoven/Mozart, Chopin. We are supposed to write a reaction for each. I'm not so much of a fan of classical music and it's my first time REALLY evaluating, and three at once! So here goes my Art Appreciation assignment.

Goldberg Variations, BWV 988
by Johann Sebastian Bach
-Of all the music I had to hear for this paper, Bach's was the most relaxed in nature(After all, its part of an album called Classics for Relaxation, CD1). It was also the shortest. Compete it with the length of Beethoven's and Mozart's seven minutes. Yup! Definitely the shortest. Such a breather too.
Listening to this was like letting a river take you with its flow. A tranquil river mind you, not the one's you go for extreme sports. However, even if it relaxes me, it doesn't make me drowsy at all. It relieves stress but still keeps you from dozing off to dreamland.

Symphony no 5 in C Minor
by Ludwig Van Beethoven
-Reminds me of Tom chasing Jerry. Symphony no 5 has a heavy atmosphere, with remarkable emphasis on every note. I have been hearing this piece a lot of times in cartoons when I was just a small kid. When I close my eyes, see a brewing storm, deers scrambling for shelter. I remember this plays every time an evil witch is about to execute her evil plans on the princess. Reminds me of my childhood movie marathons. XD

Etude op10 no4
by Frederic Chopin
-I couldn't imagine someone playing this on the piano all by himself. Forgive my musically-ignorant self for being so awed by the Chopin. I was holding my breath while I was listening to the piece. I was waiting for it to somehow reach something I'm not even so sure as to what.

So much after hearing lots of 2ne1 music. It was a good diversion. I think I'm going to hear more of classical music. I want to hear more of Chopin in particular. I got myself stumbled across another of his piece and I was so moved by it. Better get that to my To-do's. Ja!
